96. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if his attention has been drawn to the lack of parking facilities at Portlaoise and Ballybrophy train stations, County Laois, and the need for upgrade and extension to encourage the policy of greater use of public transport; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport.
Issues relating to the provision of car parking spaces at train stations on the heavy rail network outside of the GDA, such as Portlaoise and Ballybrophy, are an operational matter for Iarnród Éireann.
In light of Iarnród Éireann's responsibility in this area, I have forwarded the Deputy's question to them for further update and direct reply.
