160. To ask the Minister for Health the number of general practitioners in private practice in an area (details supplied); the number due to retire in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [41410/18]

General Practitioners are self-employed, private practitioners and are free to establish a practice wherever they wish. Many GPs have contracts with the HSE to provide services under various public health schemes, however GPs are under no obligation to enter into such contracts.
Neither my Department or the HSE have information relating to GPs who are engaged exclusively in private practice.
