660. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views on the release fees being charged by private clamping companies; his plans for a review of the appeals process which is not independent but generally managed by the individual companies themselves; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Vehicle Clamping Act 2015 came into full effect on 1st October 2017 and gave the National Transport Authority (NTA) responsibility for the regulation of vehicle clamping activities in both statutory and non-statutory (privately-owned) clamping places throughout the State. Therefore I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
