995. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if Sligo County Council will be assisted with the cost of removing a 2.5 tonne whale carcass that has washed ashore to help to stop the spread of pollution into Sligo Bay and onto Strandhill; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The issue referred to by the Deputy is a matter for the Local Authority. The removal of organic waste material from beaches does not come under the remit of my Department.
