384. To ask the Minister for Health the number of face to face meetings which have been held between the HSE, his Department and the Irish Medical Organisation since 1 January 2018 on the negotiation of a new general practitioner contract; when he expects these negotiations to be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials from my Department and the HSE met with the Irish Medical Organisation on 2 and 9 May to discuss reform of the GMS contract.

The Department subsequently wrote to the IMO setting out the proposals formally.  The Organisation has not yet responded to the Department.

In line with the long-established approach to such processes, and by agreement of the parties concerned, I am not in a position to give further details while engagement between the parties is under way.

There have been no face to face meetings between the HSE, the Department of Health and the National Association of General Practitioners since 1 January 2018 concerning the GMS contract.

I have acknowledged that the National Association of General Practitioners is anxious to be involved in discussions about reform of the GMS contract and have already indicated my willingness to consult with them formally on the many issues facing general practice.
