To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the number of public sector jobs offered as internal competitions or restricted to existing Civil Service or public service staff in his Department in 2017 and to date in 2018; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There were a number of such jobs offered as a result of internal competitions in my Department in 2017 and in 2018 across a range of grades and roles.  These posts were assigned in accordance with the sequencing arrangements agreed both centrally through the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and also with individual trade unions.  The total number of such jobs offered as a result of internal competitions in 2017 was 41 and to date in 2018 is 34.
