Disability Allowance is a weekly allowance paid to people with a specified disability who are aged over 16 and under 66. The disability must be expected to last for at least one year and the allowance is subject to a medical assessment, a means test and a habitual residency test.

A person must submit a completed application form for disability allowance to the Department in order to have their eligibility assessed and a formal decision made on their entitlement. To date no application for disability allowance has been received from the person concerned.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
