To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if there is provision for students who miss the leaving certificate examinations due to exceptional circumstances to be allowed to resit these examinations without the necessity of repeating the entire year or waiting a year to do so; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The State Examinations Commission has statutory responsibility for operational matters relating to the certificate examinations. In view of this I have forwarded this query to the State Examinations Commission for direct reply.

To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if his attention has been drawn to the case of a person (details supplied) who was unable to complete the leaving certificate examinations; if there is a provision to resit the examinations for students who miss the leaving certificate examinations due to exceptional circumstances without the necessity to repeat the entire year or wait a year to do so; and if he will consider this case for such.
