37. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if she has given consideration to the reintroduction of the grey wolf in national parks; if research or studies have been carried out in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26706/18]

My Department has no plans to re-introduce wolves to Ireland. Any potential re-introduction of a species would need to be considered within the criteria of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) translocation guidelines. These stringent guidelines are accepted as International Best Practice and are available here:
