1213. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the number of persons that have availed of paternity benefit in each of the years since its introduction in tabular form; and the overall cost for each of these years. [24416/18]

The information requested in respect of the number of people that have availed of paternity benefit since it was introduced on 1 September 2016 along with the overall cost for each of these years is set out in the following table:
