93. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the position regarding the release of information contained in two databases (details supplied) to potential new entrants to the Irish insurance market to encourage free and fair competition with new entrants able to enter and compete in the market here on a level playing field with existing market players; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Both databases referred to come under the remit of Insurance Ireland and all access to these databases is a matter for Insurance Ireland.
Section 5(1) of the Road Traffic Act 2014 enables the supply of data by my Department's National Vehicle and Driver (NVDF) to the insurance industry. Access is available to all vehicle insurers operating in the state who are registered with the Central Bank of Ireland.
