90. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if a temporary road constructed by the Office of Public Works on the lands of a person (details supplied) will now be removed and the lands reinstated following the OPW's completion of flood protection works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The river in the location referred to by the Deputy is strongly influenced by the tide and several breached flood defence scenarios occurred during repeated storm surges, resulting in severe flooding of agricultural land throughout the estuary.

The OPW is currently refurbishing the earthen flood defence embankments along the river

and estuary. There are no immediate plans to remove temporary roads constructed by the OPW as this infrastructure is critical in order to carry out current and future maintenance and refurbishment works of the flood defence embankments maintained by the OPW.

This work will greatly benefit the land owners and communities in question that are at risk of flooding.
