Waterways Ireland is co-funded by my Department and the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) in Northern Ireland. The current expenditure of the body is funded 85% by my Department and 15% by DfI, which reflects the distribution of the navigable waterways in each jurisdiction. Capital expenditure is funded 100% in the jurisdiction in which the capital works are carried out.

The amount of funding allocated to Waterways Ireland from my Department's Vote for each of the past five years is set out in the following table:

Year €m Current Capital
2013 €25.463m €21.292m €4.071m
2014 €24.183m €20.325m €3.858m
2015 €23.426m €20.058m €3.368m
2016 €22.799m €20.119m €2.680m
2017 €22.859m €20.179m €2.680m

Waterways Ireland has been allocated €24.106m (Current €20.526m, Capital €3.580m) from my Departments Vote for investment in the management, maintenance and development of the inland waterways under its control for 2018.
