To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of crimes committed by prisoners while on bail in each of the past ten years to date; the number in respect of which more than one crime was committed while still on bail; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Central Statistics Office (CSO), as the national statistical agency, is responsible for the compilation and publication of the official recorded crime statistics, and the CSO has established a dedicated unit for this purpose. I have asked the CSO to forward any available statistics in this regard directly to the Deputy.
