The Programme for Government commits to extend in phases, and subject to negotiation with GPs, free GP care to all children under 18 years of age.
The Deputy will also be aware that the Sláintecare Report recommends a decisive shift towards community based care and an expansion of GP services on a phased basis. Work on an Implementation Plan for Sláintecare is at an advanced stage in my Department and I expect to bring this to Government for consideration shortly.
