The Heritage Council is a statutory body established by the Heritage Act 1995. The Council is an agency under the auspices of my Department and is independent in the performance of its functions.

It is primarily a matter for the Heritage Council to decide how its funding is allocated across the range of research, education and conservation programmes it supports.

Details of the Council's activities and the funding awarded are available in its Annual Reports, which are published on the Council's website.  Further information is available directly from the Heritage Council and on its website.
