To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the number of vacant habitable dwelling units and vacant derelict residential dwelling units in the ownership or part ownership or under the control of both his Department and agencies under his remit; the county in which each unit is located; the length of time each unit has been vacant, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has been engaged on an ongoing programme of barracks consolidation since 1998. The entire property portfolio is under continual review and it is my Department’s policy to dispose of properties that are surplus to military requirements.The properties outlined below are the vacant residential dwelling units currently in the ownership of my Department.
