To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the number of freedom of information requests received by his Department in each of the years 2013 to 2017; the average time taken in these years to complete the requests by his Department; the number of requests to his Department for these years that ran beyond the deadline for the request; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The number of freedom of information requests received by my Department in each of the years 2013 to 2017 is set out in the table.

Dealing with FOI requests forms part of the standard duties of officials and the time spent on processing such requests is not monitored separately. 

Year No of FOI request received ‘The number of requests for these years  that ran beyond the deadline for the request’, i.e. where the period of  consideration was extended by up to four weeks under section 14 of the FOI Act 2014
