311. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he has received an application from Galway county council for funding to complete the route selection process on the new R336 from Bearna to Baile na hAbhann, Contae na Gaillimhe; when a decision will be made on this application in view of the need to select a preferred route; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The improvement and maintenance of regional and local roads is the statutory responsibility of the relevant local authority in accordance with the provisions of Section 13 of the Roads Act 1993. Works on those roads are funded from the Council's own resources supplemented by State road grants.

My Department has recently received a submission from Galway County Council in connection with the R336 and a response will issue to Galway County Council once consideration of the submission is completed.
