To ask the Minister for Health the number of persons who have availed of the provision of ambulatory blood pressure measurement for the diagnosis and assessment of hypertension; if an analysis has been carried out of the impact of the provision of same; his plans to monitor and evaluate the provision of this service in view of its importance and given that the Institute of Public Health in Ireland has predicted a 40% increase in hypertension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As this relates to the numbers of patients with a diagnosis of hypertension by ambulatory monitoring, it has been referred to the Health Service Executive for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
