To ask the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that under the Child Care Act 1991 the legal definition of a child is a person under 18 years of age, excluding a person who has been married; the reason funding for children needing access to ADHD medicine under the long-term illness scheme is stopped at 16 instead of 18 years of age; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, the HSE has statutory responsibility for the administration of the community drug schemes; therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
