To ask the Minister for Health further to Parliamentary Question No. 163 of 8 November 2017, the reason the three paediatric hospitals do not keep data on inpatients by category of admission, for example data on the number of young children and teenagers being treated for anorexia as inpatients in paediatric hospitals, in view of the fact that such data is crucial for directing resources appropriately; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 192 and 193 together.
As these are service matters I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond directly to the Deputy as soon as possible, with specific reference to the data collated as a matter of routine by paediatric hospitals for categories of admissions generally, and the reasons why the more specific data raised by the Deputy in her questions are not collected as a matter of routine.
