To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number of persons that applied to the crop loss compensation scheme by county, in tabular form; the number of approved applicants; the number of applicants that withdrew from the scheme; the number that have been issued payments to date, by county. The crop loss support measure was launched in July to assist growers most affected by the wet weather harvest conditions of September 2016. A total of 167 applications were received under the measure.
The first tranche of payments under the measure has now been processed and payments will arrive in bank accounts later this week. In a large number of cases, further information or clarification is required in order to fully process applications. In all of these cases, the applicants have been contacted directly by an official from my Department. As the further information requested is received, these cases will be examined again and subsequent pay runs will be put in place as more case are cleared for payment.
The figures requested on a county basis are set out in the table below.
