105. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills further to Parliamentary Question No. 384 of 7 November 2017, if he has reviewed the level of disparity in funding arrangements between the three sectors in order that relevant action can be taken to address this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Given that it has not yet been possible to restore grant funding levels in the schools sector due to the many other competing priorities for available funding the review referred to by the Deputy has not yet taken place.

However, it has been agreed with the JMB that any future improvements in funding should be directed in the first instance at the elimination of the salary grant deduction from the capitation payable to voluntary secondary schools.  This salary grant deduction amounts to €563 (inclusive of ER PRSI) per teaching post. The estimated annual cost of eliminating the salary grant deduction is approximately €7m.
