The Central Bank, as communicated in its Strategic Plan 2016 – 2018, will implement a strategy for banknote production. The strategy objective is to determine how the Bank meets its Eurosystem obligations for allocation of the annual Euro banknote production. The strategic review, which formally commenced in 2015, is in the context of developments with bank note printing across the Eurosystem and is a matter for consideration by the Central Bank Commission. The evaluation of the options considered to date in the review remain under consideration and will be presented to the Central Bank Commission early in the New Year.
