The information requested by the Deputy is detailed in the table.
The Deputy may be aware the strategic policy direction of my Department is to return rent supplement to its original purpose of being a short-term income support following the nationwide roll-out of the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) scheme. This measure, aligned with the overall improvement in the economy, has significantly reduced the number rent supplement cases in payment. HAP was introduced in Donegal in May 2015 and there are currently some 1,600 HAP recipients of which over 600 are direct transfers from long term rent supplement.
