927. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine his plans to increase substantially the expenditure limit for pigs and poultry units in relation to the upgrading or replacement of existing facilities in respect of TAMS applications in view of the fact that the present limit is restricting investment in these sectors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A budget of €395m is available under TAMS II for a suite of seven measures covering a wide range of investments including energy efficient measures under the existing Pig and Poultry Investment Scheme.
Over 9,000 farmers have an existing approval in place across the TAMS measures for which no payment claim has yet been submitted.
Until these approvals are acted upon and the budgetary position is clearer, it is not intended to amend the list of investments or increase the existing ceiling.
