195. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if his attention has been drawn to the safety concerns regarding traffic outside a school (details supplied) such as no safety railing between the school and the car park during pick up and drop off; the funding available to implement safety mechanisms for this school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. To date the school to which the Deputy refers has not applied to my Department for funding to address safety concerns regarding traffic outside the school during pick up and drop off times.
The mechanism for applying for funding for works of this nature is my Department’s Summer Works Scheme and it is open to the school authority to apply for these works under a future Summer Works Scheme.
In the interim if the school authority identify health and safety works that require immediate attention they should submit an Emergency Works Application form, which is available on my Departments website.
