The latest reconciled figures relating to end-Q2 2017 are that there were 771 serving Principal Officers at end June 2017 (in full-time equivalent or FTE terms), made up of 472 FTEs serving at PO standard, and 299 FTEs serving at PO higher.

On the basis of the latest reconciled data which relates to end-Q2 2017, there were a total of 269 (full-time equivalent) personnel serving in grades above Principal Officer in the Civil Service. These include officers in the grades of Secretary General, Second Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Second Secretary, plus officers serving in positions equivalent to these grades, for example Chief Parliamentary Counsel (equivalent to Secretary General), or Chief Medical Officer (equivalent to Deputy Secretary).
