Taxi Licences Renewals

To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if the situation will be remedied with regard to the renewal of taxi licences in circumstances in which when a taxi licence is renewed it is done only by reference to the applicant’s driver’s licence and therefore does not capture criminal convictions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry, including the renewal of taxi licences, is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013.
