569. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if a person is unavailable for work for two days a month and those two days one of which is a Saturday are being used to enhance their skills and educational qualifications to MA level, the reason they are deemed unavailable for work for the entire month rather than two days and jobseeker's payment refused completely rather than for two days; and if she will make a statement on the matter. To qualify for Jobseeker's Allowance, a person must, in general, be both available for and genuinely seeking full time work. I will ask my officials to contact the Deputy to establish if there are specific enquires that she wishes to have clarified in relation to any particular case.

I trust that this clarified the matter for the Deputy.
