HIQA's role in standard setting and producing inspection reports across public, private (within its social care function) and voluntary sectors is a significant driver for change in relation to patient safety and quality. HIQA publishes inspection reports across a range of services including residential services for people with a disability, designated nursing homes for older persons, and focused inspections for acute hospitals (hygiene, nutrition and hydration, medication safety). Where issues of non-compliance with standards are identified, HIQA’s inspection reports include a series of follow-on actions for that service provider.

As the information the Deputy is seeking is a service matter the question has therefore been referred to the Health Service Executive for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
