I propose to take Questions Nos. 1133 to 1140, inclusive, together.

Until recently, BreastCheck offered free mammograms every two years to all women aged 50-64 years. To date BreastCheck has detected over 8,500 cancers. The roll out of BreastCheck to women aged 65-69 began in late 2015 and will continue on a phased basis until 2021.

The number of women in each age category invited for a BreastCheck screening to the end of May 2017, the number who accepted the offer and the number who have been screened are set out in the following table;

Age50-646566676869
No. of women invited88,7504,5553452830
No. of women screened/ accepted63,4803,2053442331

The number of women who had an abnormal mammographic result, up to 31 March 2017, is 1,630. The proportion of those women who have been offered an appointment for an assessment clinic within two weeks of notification of this abnormal result is 93.6% (1,525).

The proportion of women, to 31 May 2017, who have been invited for screening within 24 months of becoming eligible or since their last screening appointment is 49% (53,145).

53,527 clients completed a satisfactory BowelScreen FIT test to end-May 2017, the latest figures available. This figure is 24% above the target for the year-to-date.

BowelScreen - the National Bowel Screening Programme offers free bowel screening to men and women aged 60-69. The BowelScreen Round One Programme Report, 2012-2015, shows that 521 cancers were detected through bowel screening, 3 out of 4 of which were detected at an early stage of cancer development.
