1076. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport further to Parliamentary Question No. 1857 of 20 June 2017, the reason his Department does not have such information readily available in view of its role in advancing policy to tackle congestion; and if he will seek this information and provide it to other interested parties. I refer to my previous answer to PQ1857 of 20 June 2017. Any estimation of the number of cars using our roads, either on a national basis or just in the Greater Dublin Area, whether during a particular period or not, would involve the use of traffic count surveys and is entirely a matter for each local authority, who have primary responsibility for traffic management in their respective functional areas. I have no role in the matter.
