117. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if she will report on the speed over distance cameras that were installed at the Port Tunnel; when these cameras are expected to become operational; when the first update on their functionality will be available; if legislation is required to allow for prosecutions arising from the use of this technology; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am advised that the Garda authorities are engaging with Transport Infrastructure Ireland with regard to the introduction of an Average Speed Camera Detection System into the Dublin Port Tunnel on a pilot basis. I am also advised that the new system is due to become operational on 1 June 2017, and that An Garda Síochána will be in a position to issue Fixed Charge Notices (FCNs) and support prosecutions.
