108. I am advised by the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) of my Department that the relevant details of the Spouse of Irish National scheme are available on the INIS website at www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/WP07000024. If the person concerned does not have current permission to remain in the State, they must complete the application form “Application for Residence Permission for Spouse/Civil Partner of an Irish National” which is available to download on the INIS website at .

Obtaining a PPS number is a matter for the Department of Social Protection and generally is separate from the immigration permission process.

Queries in relation to the status of individual immigration cases may be made directly to INIS by e-mail using the Oireachtas Mail facility, which has been established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of Parliamentary Question process. The Deputy may consider using the e-mail service except in cases where the response from INIS is in the Deputy’s view, inadequate or too long awaited.
