Rates of remuneration and conditions of employment in the Irish public sector have traditionally been set by reference to relative levels of pay across the various sectors of the Irish public sector. The Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Acts of 2009-2015 and the Public Service Stability Agreement 2013-2018 (Lansdowne Road Agreement) currently define the pay policy for public servants.
You will be aware that the report from the Public Service Pay Commission was published and 9th May and following that on the 16th of May my colleague the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe T.D., extended an invitation to the Defence Forces’ Associations to discussions on public service pay and a continued approach to the unwinding of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (FEMPI) legislation. In keeping with the Government’s commitment to openness and transparency, the Commission will be making all of its submissions and inputs publicly available on its website.
Full details of all pay rates and increment scales for officers serving in the Permanent Defence Force are listed in the following tables.
