529. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the duration for which cannabis can be detected in a person's system by the technology used in the new tests with regard to the new drug driving legislation; the period of time for which a person has to be clear of inhaling or imbibing cannabis before the drug detection test will produce a negative result; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The statutory responsibility for testing, approval and supply of the devices referred to rests with the Medical Bureau of Road Safety.

I have therefore referred the Question to the Bureau for direct reply.

I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
