An amount of €21m was provided under the Capital Plan 2016-2022 for the completion of Phase 1 of the National Indoor Arena.  Phase 1, comprising a National Indoor Athletics Training Centre, a National Gymnastics Training Centre and a National Indoor Training Centre catering for over 20 sports, was completed in December 2016 and officially opened by An Taoiseach in January 2017.  The total cost of Phase 1 was €38.5m. There is a proposal to develop Phase 2 of the National Indoor Arena, comprising covered pitches and ancillary facilities. The availability of funding for the development of Phase 2 will be determined in the Mid Term Review of the Capital Plan, and the timing of that project will then be clearer.
