To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if his Department includes the remit of the maintenance of local authority harbours; the future funding initiatives to be established by his Department to address the need for larger scale upgrades of harbours in County Donegal including the multi million breakwater project at Greencastle harbour and the Inver Pier extension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has no function in relation to the maintenance of local authority harbours and I have no plans for a future funding programme for harbours/piers. The funding for the infrastructural works referred to is a matter for Donegal County Council, in the first instance.
