320. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the number of schools which, following amalgamation, have received reduced DEIS related supports, that is not full DEIS status; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13512/17]

I wish to advise the Deputy, that in the past five years, from the 2012-2013 school year to date, there were 9 cases of amalgamations between DEIS and non-DEIS schools. This includes schools in both the Primary and Post Primary Sector.

Where amalgamations occur comprising DEIS and Non-DEIS schools, DEIS status is not transferred to the newly amalgamated school. Notwithstanding this fact, my Department continues to provide some additional non-teaching resources in respect of the number of eligible pupils from the former DEIS schools, by way of continued support for the targeted cohort of pupils as a transitional measure. In the case of a post-primary school these non-teaching supports are provided for six years. In the case of a primary school these non-teaching supports are provided for eight years.
