To ask the Minister for Education and Skills when he will fill the eight vacancies that currently exist on the Higher Education Authority; and if he will make these appointments a priority in view of the fact that the current membership of the HEA does not meet the minimum statutory requirement of seven academic members as set out in section 2 of the Schedule to the Higher Education Act 1971. The appointment process to fill the current vacancies on the Board of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) is underway. My Department will be in direct contact with the HEA when the process is completed.
