To ask the Minister for Health if he will ensure that the subsidy for blood testing strips remains in place; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that persons suffering from diabetes who require very frequent blood testing on a daily basis require these strips; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that to remove this subsidy will result in many diabetics not being able to afford the test strips, which cost €70 per perscription, and will result in more hospitalisation when hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia sets in; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
