565. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine when he expects BIM to furnish aquaculture licences to oyster farmers who have applied for licences but to date have received no indication regarding timeframes for approval; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8727/17]

Applications for aquaculture licences for the cultivation of oysters are considered by my Department under the provisions of the 1997 Fisheries (Amendment) Act, the 1933 Foreshore Act and related national and EU legislation. Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) is a statutory consultee under the provisions of the applicable legislation but has no responsibility in relation to the award of licences.
