55. To ask the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources if he is satisfied that the proposed plans by Irish Water to pipe water from the River Shannon at the Parteen Basin to Dublin will not in any way negatively impact on lands through which the pipeline will flow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department does not have policy responsibility for water issues, which rest with the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government. I am advised that, since 1 January 2014, Irish Water has statutory responsibility for all aspects of water services planning, delivery and operation at national, regional and local levels. I am further advised that Irish Water has established a dedicated team to deal with representations and queries from public representatives. The team can be contacted via email tooireachtasmembers@water.ie or by telephone on a dedicated number, 1890 578 578.
