182. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the current enrolment numbers and the capacity for schools (details supplied). [3973/17]

I wish to advise the Deputy that the primary school enrolment information requested is set out in the spreadsheet. The source of this data was obtained from my Department's Statistics Section's Annual Census 2016-2017. The data is still provisional and it is expected that final data will be published in April 2017.

The matter of enrolment in individual schools is the responsibility of the managerial authority of the school. My Department's main responsibility is to ensure that schools in an area can, between them, cater for all pupils seeking places.

Enrolments increased slightly, in the first and second named primary schools referenced in the details supplied by the Deputy and reduced slightly at the fourth named primary school.As the Deputy will be aware, a building project for the third named primary school listed in the details supplied is included on the 6 Year School ConstructionProgramme and is currently progressing through the architectural planning process. It would appear that there is capacity in these primary schools.

With regard to the post primary school referenced in the details supplied, there were 170 pupils enrolled in the post-primary school last September. This is a reduction of ten pupils since 2011 and suggests that, currently, there is existing capacity in this school.
