521. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if there is any mechanism by which notification can issue if a foreshore licence is applied for by a company (details supplied) in respect of oil and gas exploration at Kish Bank; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There is no mechanism under the 1933 Foreshore Act by which a notification issues if a specific company applies for a foreshore licence. I can confirm that to date no application for a foreshore licence in respect of oil and gas exploration at Kish Bank has been submitted to my Department by the company concerned. Should an application be received it will be assessed for completeness, following which a period of consultation will be held with Statutory and Non-Statutory Consultees and the general public.
