To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the number of staff employed by him and each Minister of State including, parliamentary assistants, secretarial assistants, special advisers, press secretaries and other positions, in tabular form; the pay rate for each assistant and the total cost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 281 and 282 together.

The following are the details of staff employed in my offices in the Department of Defence, Newbridge, in Government Buildings and in my constituency:-

Staffing of my private office is as set out below by gradeand salary scale.

Constituency

My constituency office is staffed by one Parliamentary Assi stant and one Secretarial Assistant , both of whom are paid by the Houses of the Oireachtas and as such my Department does not have salary information in relation to these staff.

All appointments have been made in accordance with the "Instructions to Personnel Officers - Ministerial Appointments for the 32nd Dáil" issued in June 2016.

*A Private Secretary Allowance i s payable to the holder of this post i.e.  €20,685 personal pension contribution rate (ppc) or €19,653 non-personal pension contribution rate (non-ppc) as appropriate .

**2 Clerical Officers seconded from the Department of the Taoiseach to work in my office in Government Buildings.
