The Post Office Network Business Development Group, chaired by Mr. Bobby Kerr, was established in late 2014 to examine the potential for new and existing Government and commercial business that could be transacted through the post office network, and to identify new business opportunities for the network. The final report of the Business Development Group, which was published in January of this year, made a number of recommendations to support the future sustainability of post offices. The provision of an additional payment option for motor tax through the Post Office Network is one of the key recommendations suggested by the Group. My officials are currently working with officials from the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government on the potential for a motor tax renewal service to be offered through the post office network. A number of options are currently under active consideration.

I intend to report to Government on this matter in the coming weeks, along with progress made on other recommendations from the final report of the Business Development Group.
