572. To ask the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs if there is anticipated to be an underspend in her department in 2016; if so, if she will consider the needs of the family resource centres and their wide range of programmes directed at children and families, as an appropriate area to absorb any surplus funding that may not yet be utilised or likely to be utilised before the end of 2016; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The funding allocated to the Family Resource Centre Programme is a matter primarily for consideration by Tusla in the first instance, having regard to the overall level of funding available to it in 2016.
The Deputy might note that a proposal was received by my Department late last week from Tusla in relation to the provision of additional once-off resources to support the Family Resource Centre Programme in the current year. This proposal is being considered in the context of an examination of the projected year end expenditure position in my Department's Vote, and having regard to the operation of public financial rules and procedures.
A final decision on the proposal will be communicated to Tusla following this consideration.
